Locksmith Chronicles: What Do You Need to Open a Garage Door?

To safely open a garage door without causing damage, you need:

1. Several air wedges — ideally 6, to distribute the pressure evenly across the door.

2. A long, curved hook.

3. A remote camera. You can do it without one, but customers like having the camera.

4. A mini ladder.

My hook looks strange, but it works perfectly.

Tip: After the garage door has been opened and the emergency release mechanism has been put back into position, press and hold the garage door open/close button until the chain makes a complete cycle and re-engages with the emergency release mechanism. Otherwise, the customer may panic when they try to close the door.
