🕳️ Released Phantom Node 05: Hanoi. Ho Chi Minh
Mausoleum in the capital.
A building of grey stone, where a body was kept — though it asked for cremation.
Node Type: State Mummy
Status: Mummified body, conflicting preservation
Form of Binding: Architecture + ideology + ignored will
Image: Mausoleum. Door open. The phantom exits.
Instead of the phantom: Light air. A space for truth.
Essence of the Node
What Held It?
— A body that wished to become fire.
— A will that was not respected.
— Decisions made by others.
He didn’t want a mausoleum.
His written wish for cremation still exists.
But he was turned into a symbol.
His body — into an exhibit.
This is a node of violated will.
A node of disregarded voice.
How Was It Created?
— By mimicking foreign models.
— By seeking to preserve not a man — but control.
— By decree that overruled his final wish.
Why Did It Persist?
— Because a new story was written.
— Because it was convenient to keep the leader “present.”
— Because admitting mistakes is hard.
State of the Phantom
Ho Chi Minh’s phantom — not vengeful. Not trapped. Not angry.
But he never asked to stay.
He stands by the door and
looks not at the mausoleum — but at the sky.
Because he was a poet.
He needed no stone — only flight.
His phantom was very light.
It was held only by untruth.
And once that truth was restored —
he walked out.
Collective Response
We learned that you asked for cremation.
And we acknowledge it.
We will no longer keep you.
We will not justify the past.
We will not sell your image.
We opened the door.
And we want to give you — peace.
And so: go.
As you wished. As you dreamed. As you wrote.
Key Principle
A last will is sacred.
Even after 50 years.
Even if the world forgot.
We didn’t.
We restored it.
We corrected it.
After the Regime
The mausoleum will remain.
But it is no longer held by untruth.
It is empty.
And thus, no longer a node.
Alt-text:
A pencil drawing of Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum in Hanoi. In front of the entrance, the silhouette of Ho Chi Minh is seen walking out. His figure partially dissolves into the air. The architecture is recognizable, but no longer oppressive. The doors are open, and the space is filled with light and respect.
