Wheat and Light: A Pyramid Memory from 1988
In the winter of 1988, during a Physics Decade at an ordinary school in Kyiv, I built a pyramid.
Not a replica of the Great Pyramid, but a transparent structure with an inner stand divided by small shelves.
The goal was simple — to explore:
Does form affect life?
Inside the pyramid, I placed wheat grains — three on each level.
There were three levels in total:
• Bottom (base) — weak growth
• Middle level — the longest growth
• Top level (under the “roof”) — no sprouting at all
Outside the pyramid, on a small cloth napkin, I placed control grains.
Each grain rested on its own moist napkin.
I was in 6th grade when I gave a report about this experiment at a student conference at Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv.

Why does it matter?
I had no scientific background.
But I had a school ruler — and attention to detail.
Every day, I measured and recorded the sprout lengths at the same time.
This wasn’t just a school project.
It was also my personal work.
And, somehow, it turned out to be meaningful.

What I remembered — now finds confirmation
Later I learned that electromagnetic modeling suggests pyramids can indeed concentrate energy at certain levels.
Other experiments have shown that seeds inside pyramid-shaped structures grow differently — sometimes faster, sometimes stronger.
Maybe I remembered it right.
Or maybe memory is a method, too.
